Language & Editorial Services
|
Need a language for your fictional world? An index for your book? A second pair of eyes on your manuscript? Or someone who can actually pronounce all those names you invented?
I offer a range of language, editorial, and voice services for authors, publishers, game designers, and other creators. If you have a linguistic problem, a publishing problem, or a particularly stubborn collection of invented words, I may be able to help.

Constructed Languages (Conlangs)
I create languages for novels, comics, games, theatre, film, and other fictional worlds. Projects can range from a few names and phrases to a fully developed language with its own phonology, grammar, vocabulary, writing system, and history.
Depending on what your project needs, I can also provide a primer or phrasebook, formal grammatical documentation, audio recordings, a dedicated wiki, or an original writing system—or adapt an existing one.

|
Indexing
I create back-of-book indexes with particular experience in linguistics, language learning, constructed languages, social work, and social justice.
|
|
Editing
I edit manuscripts, articles, and other written material for clarity, consistency, structure, and style. Let me know if your writing needs something more than a spellcheck but less than a complete rewrite.
|
|
Proofreading
I proofread for grammar, spelling, punctuation, consistency, and those little errors that somehow survive every previous round of editing. Canadian, American, British, and other styles are all welcome. I can specialize, specialise, and, in very select circumstances, even specialyze.

Tutoring & Mentoring
Want to learn how to create a constructed language? Need someone to talk through the linguistic problems in your project? I’m developing a more general course in constructed languages, but for now my approach is very much one-on-one. Tell me what you’re working on, and we’ll figure out what you need.

Audiobooks & Voiceovers
I am beginning to expand my work into audiobook narration and voiceover, with a particular interest in projects that require linguistic expertise. If your novel contains a constructed language, unfamiliar names, or characters whose pronunciation matters, I can help make sure they sound the way you intended. I am proficient in General American (with a huge asterisk to indicate that there is a vast conversation to be had about the socio-linguistic and cultural implications of the word “general,” but I do need to be brief here), General Canadian (with the same asterisk), and Received Pronunciation, and I have particular experience with Long Island, Canadian Maritime, and Transatlantic accents. Newfoundland remains a work in progress.

Not sure what you need?
That's okay. You don't need to know which service to ask for. Tell me about your project, what you're trying to accomplish, and where you're stuck, and we can figure out the rest:
